Southern Spain
Inaugurated in 1964, the Real Club de Golf Sotogrande is one of Andalusia’s most prestigious courses. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, it stands as one of the architect’s first masterpieces, blending perfectly with the surrounding landscape.
The Real Club de Golf Sotogrande is closely linked to the development of the luxury Sotogrande community. By 1966, it hosted the Spanish Open and quickly became a reference point for European and international competitions.
With its wide fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and fast greens, Sotogrande offers a balanced challenge suited for both amateurs and experienced players. The design emphasizes precision over raw power.
The course has welcomed some of the biggest names in golf and has hosted prestigious tournaments such as the Jerez Cup, which later became the European Nations Championship. It was also the venue for the Q-School Final from 1996 to 2001, where players like Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, and Ian Poulter earned their European Tour qualification.
